A last-minute change in the forecast did not deter us from making our debut at Todd Farm this morning. As expected, scattered showers ruled the pre-dawn hours, but once the sun came up, the skies cleared and the sun slowly took over. It was actually extremely busy in the 5am hour, and then tapered off considerably until mid-morning. We persevered, made a lot of sales, and in the process enjoyed our first time setting up at Todd Farm. We'd like to thank Todd for his hospitality and for giving us a great spot on the field - we can GUARANTEE we'll be back!

It's been a LONG time coming, but this Sunday, September 21st, Lovequist Antiques will be making our TODD FARM DEBUT! Todd Farm is located in Rowley, MA, and has long been considered the best flea market for antiques in Eastern New England, so we are very excited to finally join the party! The field opens to the public at 5am, and will probably stay busy into the noon hour (the Patriots play at 1pm); we'd suggest arriving no later than 10am. You can park in the back of the field for FREE or right across the street for (I think) 5 bucks. We don't know exactly where on the property we'll be located; check our Facebook page Sunday morning for that info. The weather WILL be fantastic and the field will be full, so make us a part of your weekend!

Thankfully, Brimfield avoided most of the rain that hit the region overnight, so Hertan's Field was nearly dry when we opened for business at 7:30 this morning. We managed to make some good sales despite a thin early crowd, but as the morning warmed up, buyers eventually came out in force, and they kept us busy well into the afternoon. Several of the locals commented that they had chosen to avoid the heat on Saturday, and their patience was rewarded with a Sunday that was absolutely spectacular. Our patience was rewarded as well, as Sunday unexpectedly turned out to be our BIGGEST sales day of the entire week!
We'd again like to thank David and Jerry and all of the terrific folks at Hertan's Field for their hospitality this week. They run a truly fantastic operation, and we can't thank them enough for making our first year at Hertan's not only successful, but delightful. We'd also like to thank our friends at Elegant Tent And Party for another great tent (please mention us when you book your tent with them for next year) and Peter Fuller for our Ford rental van.  We are already looking forward to May 13-17, 2015, when (drum roll please) we expect to return to SPACE 165 at Hertan's Field for the next edition of the Brimfield Shows! In the meantime... we're thinking about making our Todd Farm debut! Details coming soon!

Saturday, September 6, 2014

So apparently none of you heeded our warning to get to Brimfield extra-early on Saturday, but by mid-morning, the crowd was bustling, and by the time the rain finally did fall, it was late enough that nearly everyone had finished their shopping and selling.  Tomorrow (Sunday) is the final day of the 2014 season, and we will once again be located in Space 165 of Hertan's Field (plug 5 Mill Lane Road into your GPS). We'll be there starting around 8am, and we're taking advantage of some additional space to bring along several small furniture pieces and a nice selection of antique U.S state maps from the late 1800's. We've had a great show and are looking forward to a big finish!

Friday, September 5, 2014

The forecast for Saturday in Brimfield calls for rain and thunderstorms beginning at around 2pm and lasting until around midnight. We are thus strongly encouraging folks to make their way into town as early as possible tomorrow so as to beat the traffic and the expected precipitation, as many dealers will likely close up shop once the rain begins. To facilitate this, we are planning to be opening Space 165 at Hertan's Field by or before 7am, and we have gotten a number of adjacent dealers to agree to open by then as well, so we will make it worth your while to start your day at Hertan's! We are also bringing several great new items along, including several advertising signs, a Ted Williams autographed photo, and another one signed by James Garner! We will stay open as long as the weather and the flow of customers allows, and may close as early as 2pm. We'll also be there all day Sunday, 'til they kick us out!

Thursday, September 4, 2014

We arrived at Hertan's Field just before 8am this morning with two items in tow: a terrific WWII poster and a very cool mirrored shelf. Within the first hour, the poster had found a new owner, and the "adoptions" continued quite steadily throughout the day. Another picture-perfect day is expected for Friday, which in our opinion is the very best day to shop Brimfield, so start your weekend early and include a stop at our delightfully cool and shaded tent in Space 165 in your plans!

Wednesday, September 3, 2014

Day One of the September 2014 Edition of the Brimfield Antiques Shows is in the books! Hertan's Field opened at Noon today and the weather could not have possibly been more delightful. Very brisk activity early led us to a solid day overall. Among the items we sold today were the Popsicles sign and the large gold Syroco Eagle mirror featured in our sneak previews! The forecast for both Thursday and Friday calls for more terrific weather and even better pickin'! We'll be back in Space 165 of Hertan's Field by 8am on both days and until at least 5pm each night. Stop on by before May's or J&J !

Tuesday, September 2, 2014

Starting Wednesday September 3rd at Noon, we will be located in a tent in Space 165 of Hertan's Field, which is on the corner of Mill Lane Road and Route 20 in Brimfield, MA (punch 5 Mill Lane Road into your GPS, and park behind Hertan's at Shady Lane Parking). Space 165 is directly across from a delightful stand of trees and a bench so it should serve as a nice respite from the expected late summer heat. We will be in Brimfield from Wednesday at Noon right through Sunday afternoon. Let us know in the comments on our Facebook page if and when you're coming!

Monday, September 1, 2014

We're just hours away from the grand opening of Hertan's Field at NOON on Wednesday, and when you stop by our tent (in SPACE 165), you will see Brimfield's largest and most diverse selection of milk glass! We will have hundreds of pieces available: plates and dishes, cups and saucers, vases, serving pieces, display items, and even a couple of antique lamps! Makers like Fenton, Anchor
Hocking, Fire King, and Westmoreland are all represented, and we've got an extensive selection of pieces in the hobnail pattern, along with some in the grapevine pattern and many other designs as well. If you love and collect milk glass, make our tent your FIRST stop for the BEST array of choices in ALL of Brimfield!
